Reading O! and her story
I just finished reading an article in Oprah’s magazine about how she feels now that she’s gained weight. It so interesting because I really never felt like I could relate to her before. I mean she’s a billionaire, with enough money to hire staff to tend to her and chefs to cook healthy meals for her, and trainers, therapists, etc. She can afford a team of experts to help her conquer the challenges that come before her – so what’s her problem?
As I was reading the article, Oprah became very real to me. Sure she has millions, but she also has herself to answer to. She was relating the disappointment she felt in herself because she allowed herself to get back to where she once was — overweight and contemplative of her struggles. She acknowledged that food is her drug of choice when the going get tough, and to that I can relate. This is what makes Oprah human to me — FINALLY! I admire Oprah for where she is and for what she does for people. I wish I were more like her in that regard. I wish that I had the money to help others the way that she makes dreams come true for so many people. As a woman who struggles with weight, and the challenges of needing to lose twice as much as weight as you do, I thank you, Oprah for finally becoming someone I can relate to. And, for keeping it real as we both work towards bettering our own lives by remembering that we need to take care of ourselves.
