The weight-loss thing

March 14th, 2009

I know that I’ve done this before — the weightloss thing.  But it’s just difficult to stay motivated towards my health with so much going on around me.  I used to be at a place in my life where money was no object, where I was able to do the things I wanted to do, when I wanted to do them — and that included joining WW and sticking to it.. or NutriSystem, or even Jenny Craig.  I did really well in all of those programs, but it seems that right now, with money tight — and having been tight for the past 5 years, I’m just happy to be able to enjoy the sun when it’s out, the friends when they’re around, and my family when I’m home.  I know I should make my health a priority, and I understand that without it, I really have nothing.  But, I struggle every day to pay attention to my health — something that I really should be doing!

So what do I do about it?  Debbie has been a silent motivator.  She is a dear friend and is training to run in her first 5K.  She has turned me on to the gym – CardioGirl - and has introduced me to Sparkpeople.  She doesn’t overwhelm me, but rather silently and frequently reminds me that it’s time to take care of myself.  Thank you Debbie — I can’t promise you much, but I can promise you that I will try.  Oh and that there will be wine :) .

I need to do that as well! So far I’ve got weight training down, lifting wine, beer and barrels. But come next month, time will be available once again and I’m SOOOO going to make sure that I get to Cardiogirl first thing when i wake up! What time do you go?

We have to remind ourselves everyday that food can not and will not replace what we are missing in our lives. Yes it makes us feel happy while we eat and for a few hours after wards, but then you are right back to feeling that missing “thing” as well as upset for being even farther away from your goal or where you started.

We need to fill our lives with activity and surround ourselves with good people. Positive people. People who don’t leech off of us and drain from us our strength.

Claudia, You have so much! Remind yourself this everytime you have a struggle with your weight. No that you are not alone. We are not meant to be perfect but to love who we are and who others are despite what we look all like.

    Good Luck to us all!
