Conversations through Twitter

Published by at 1:57 am under Random,Red

About two months ago I opened an account on Twitter. I admit that I had resisted the urge for quite a while, but broke down with Debbie told me that the California Jaycees (@jcica) were twittering year-end award results real-time. Like good Jaycees, we made an evening of it! We met at Debbie’s house, she hooked up the laptop to the television and logged into twitter. As we grilled and opened wine bottles, we would report on the latest award results and celebrate whenever JCI Santa Clarita was honored — Go SCV! It was then that I realized that twitter could be useful and fun.

Since then I’ve been twittering away, sending my tweets for the world to see. I comment on everything from what I’m doing at the moment, to my thoughts on the latest wine I’ve tasted. I also follow a bunch of individuals that are of interest. For example, a couple of weeks ago, I learned that I was the 970,000+ user to follow Ashton Kutcher (@aplusk) on his quest to break 1 million followers before CNN (@cnn). I’ve recently started following more wine related tweeters (@TweSommelier, @PasoRoblesWine, @WineAss ) , as well as a job search related one (@thejobsguy) that offers up some good information, and of course I follow our valley’s updates (@jeff_scvtalk, @santaclarita411, @scvjaycees, @santaclarita,@scvsherrif, @mayordude).  Seems like a lot, doesn’t it?  Well that’s not even the 1/2 of it!

I’ve come to enjoy twitter.  In the beginning it can be overwhelming, but once you get the hang of it, it’s manageable.  If you’re not on it yet, give it a try.  Who knows, you may actually enjoy it! :)

OH — and in case you were wondering — the wine we drank at Debbie’s house that night was The Loose Goose’s own blend — 1667 Army of Geese.  It is BY FAR the smoothest wine I’ve ever had!  And, I’m not saying that because I’m biased — but because it really IS the best!
