I am ANGRY!

July 21st, 2009

Dear _____,

Is it wrong to expect you to do what you said you were going to do?

Is it too much to ask for you to communicate?

Is it crazy to expect you to keep promises?

Is it really necessary to insult me — especially when you are the one that is in the wrong?

I think NOT!

You say I have no perspective?  Yet you are the one that is incapable of seeing how your actions affect others.

I am angry with myself for having believed in you.

Signed,

Me.

People in pain occassionally have to make hard choices. Priorities like family and work sometimes mean other important commitments have to be sacrificed. Even worse, in a crisis, communicating with all interested parties is sometimes not possible.
Despite all that, the ideas are still worth believing in. The struggle is worth continuing. The friendship is real, even if at moments, it is strained.

But it isn’t always polished and ready for show. That’s why reality is preferrable to perception.

Interesting perspective — oh wait, recently I was accused of not having any — but my guess is that you know that already.

People in pain occasionally have to make hard choices. Priorities like family and work sometimes mean other important commitments have to be sacrificed.”

Absolutely agree with you. As adults priorities shift on a daily basis. Family and work should always be prioritized above all else. This is a lesson I learned myself just 2 years ago.

Even worse, in a crisis, communicating with all interested parties is sometimes not possible.

Again agreed. However, in this particular instance, communication has been a constant barrier. Success is never accomplished without communication.

Despite all that, the ideas are still worth believing in. The struggle is worth continuing.

    Again no arguments there.

The friendship is real, even if at moments, it is strained.

One would think. However it is not surprising that the friendship is questioned, is it?

Earths Great Treasure Lies in Human Personality….

This is probably my favorite tenant in the Jaycees Creed. When this line was added, the intent was to embrace the difference of one individual from another. It suggests that we cultivate personalities and work together towards human progress — something I am committed to, but I can’t do it alone.

But it isn’t always polished and ready for show.

If able to recognize that it is not ready for show, then why continue to call attention to oneself in public forums?

That’s why reality is preferable to perception.

Again absolutely agree. However reality is personal, perception is public. In working with others, perception needs to be considered when trying to achieve buy-in.

So there you have it “Henry“. This is my reality.
