A little about this site…

I’ve often wanted to put together a website that was meaningful.  One that I can look to for answers to my questions, to reference my interests, and to share my experiences.   That’s what this site is about — it’s a toast to my life because I’ve realized that my life, although sometimes rather average, can be rather entertaining.

meA little about me…

I’m a single woman in my mid-30s.  After spending the past 4 years building my a business, I decided that life was WAY too short to be that stressed, so I removed myself and started the next chapter in my life.  I moved 60 miles away from home, got a new job where I spent my days playing with wine….. and as you can imagine, my stress level has decreased dramatically!  Whereas I am no longer at the company, as the economic downturn forced us to close our doors, I am very active in the wine community and have obtained the Level 2 Intermediate WSET Award in Wine and Spirits. I look forward to continuining through the WSET programs as courses are offered in my area. I am rebuilding, and truly loving the experience because although there are obstacles, at the end of every day, I know that I am doing what I chose to do.

My thoughts on men…

As I mentioned, I am single.  No, I have never been married, yes I have been “engaged” and all I can say is that it didn’t work out.  I meet men all the time, but really haven’t found the one to hold my interest.  I now he’s out there somewhere and am excited to meet him.

My thoughts on wine…

Whereas I grew up with wine on our dinner table every night, I had never really considered it as anything other than another beverage choice at dinner (one usually reserved for my dad and grandfathers).   Since December ’07, however, I’ve immersed myself in the world of wine.  My mentor, when it comes to wine, is a dear friend of mine who is always willing to share.  I’ve grown an appreciation for wine.  So far, I’ve enjoyed everything that I’ve been exposed to – from the bottle to the color to the smell, the taste, the finish.  But one of the things I probably enjoy the most is the “story” behind the wine, behind the winery, behind the vineyard.  I love the romance that wine brings to the table — that’s what gives the wine its character in my eyes.

I’m ashamed to not have known you any better until this moment. I am very impressed with your site. And thank you for putting my little blog on your roll Claudia. I’ll be checking in again!

Claudia, I am Jim from the Ficklin Winery tasting room where you and Mike visited yesterday. I like the attitude and information on your web site. I’ll visit some of the wineries you recommend, especially those in the Paso Robles area. Oh, there is another central San Joaquin Valley winery to include in you adventures: the Fresno State University Winery. They are typically NOT pouring but check their web site to get contact info so that you have the opportunity to visit them when their wines are being poured.

Hi Jim! First off — THANK YOU! You were such a gracious host during our tasting and really made our experience wonderful! We’ll be sure and check out Fresno State University Winery on our next trip out (probably next month some time) and include them in our project. I’m also excited to crack open my bottle of Chocolate Passport — have I told you how YUM it is?!
