Bottle Shock — Loved it!
I have been reading “Judgment of Paris” and was really excited when my roommate purchased tickets to see Bottle Shock this weekend. Would the movie truly do the story justice? I think it did! The movie makes the story as well as the history appealing. It’s a struggle between what doing what you have to do and then recognizing that credit should be given to those who excel. It is a true story of the historical tasting in 1976 when Californian wines went head-to-head with French wines. Who would have known that Jim Barret’s dream would be realized when his son, Bo, made sure that their chardonnay made it to France, where their 1973 Chardonnay took 1st place! This historical event marked the beginning of the rise of Californian wines. The story is enticing, inspiring, and motivating. It’s where belief meets passion and the end results are more than rewarding. If you have ever expressed an interest in wine — go see this movie!
We did have the honor of participating in a Q&A session with Randy Miller, one of the producers, after the movie. Out of the entire cast, the roles of Sam and Jo were written in for the movie — all of the other main characters are real.
